From October 3 to 4, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming inspected the Lizi–Nechung Port between China and Nepal, and visited the Mustang District of Nepal.

At the Lizi–Nechung Port, Ambassador Zhang inspected the infrastructure on the Chinese side and held discussions with Chinese officials from the Xizang Autonomous Region, Shigatse City, Zhongba County, and the port authorities in Xizang. They had in-depth exchanges on promoting high-quality development of the Lizi–Nechung Port and better facilitating people-to-people exchanges and trade between China and Nepal.

In Mustang District of Nepal, Ambassador Zhang surveyed the infrastructure on Nepali side of the Lizi–Nechung Port, learned about local social conditions and public opinion, and met with Nepali officials from the local governments, security and customs authorities. Ambassador Zhang encouraged the Nepali side to work with China to improve the connectivity and support capacity of the Lizi–Nechung Port as soon as possible to deliver greater benefits to the people of both countries.
