Q: It is reported that the P5+1 and Iran will hold a new round of talks on the Iranian nuclear issue in Geneva on December 17. Who will be the Chinese delegate? What is China's expectation for the meeting?

A: As agreed by the P5+1 and Iran, negotiations will be held in Geneva on December 17 on a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue. Director-General Wang Qun of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry of China will attend as the head of the Chinese delegation.

The P5+1 and Iran have lately decided to extend negotiations on a comprehensive agreement, making more time and space for the diplomatic efforts. All parties concerned should cherish more the positive momentum of negotiations which does not come easily. What is the most important in the next stage is to strike when the iron is hot, adhere to consensus, stay focused on and narrow differences in the principle of step by step and reciprocity, so as to clinch a comprehensive and mutually beneficial deal at an early date. Together with all parties, the Chinese side will continue to play a constructive role in pushing forward negotiations on a comprehensive agreement.
