On March 3, 2026, H. E. Mr. Zhang Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal paid a courtesy call on H. E. Mr. Amrit Bahadur Rai, Foreign Secretary of Nepal.

Foreign Secretary Rai welcomed Ambassador Zhang on assuming his post and said that Nepal and China are friendly neighbouring countries linked by mountains and rivers. Nepal has consistently adhered to the one-China principle and will never allow any forces to use its territory for anti-China separatist activities. Nepal looks forward to sharing the opportunities arising from China's high-quality development, deepening practical cooperation across various fields, and carrying forward the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Ambassador Zhang said that China and Nepal are good neighbours, good friends and good partners. China stands ready to work with Nepal to implement the important common understandings reached between President Xi Jinping and Nepali leaders, advance the Strategic Partnership of Cooperation Featuring Ever-lasting Friendship for Development and Prosperity, and jointly build a China-Nepal community with a shared future.
