Good afternoon and Namaste.
Today, buddhists all over the world gathered in Lumbini to celebrate the 2567th Buddha Jayanti, a day honoring the legacy, tradition, and teachings of the Buddha. On this special day, it’s my great pleasure to attend the Silk Road Charity and Brightness Action-Into the Hometown of Buddha and Donation Distribution Ceremony of Scholarship and Medical Care together with Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and other distinguished guests. Iwould like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the Lumbini Development Trust, the Chinese Buddhist Monastery Nepal, and the Youth Chawnese Sodality of Shenzhen.
The friendship between China and Nepal goes back to thousands of years. The ancient Silk Road has borne witness to the friendly exchanges of the two peoples. Under the leadership of H.E.Xi Jinping, President of China and Rt.Hon.Prime Minister Prachanda, we signed the Belt and Road Initiative cooperation document in 2017. This year also marks the 10thanniversary of BRI. Thanks to our joint efforts, the vision of the BRI is becoming a reality and bearing rich fruit. The Silk Road Charity and Brightness Action is the second five-year plan formulated by the Youth Chawnese Sodality of Shenzhen, which aims to provide financial subsidies to the impoverished Nepalese students, and medical materials to the local health clinics. It’s also an important livelihood project under the BRI framework, it will not only bring hopes to the local Nepalese families, but also conducive to deepen our people-to-people exchanges.
Education and Health are fundamental human rights and vital to economic development and growth. President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Development Initiative, health and education cooperation are two important parts of it. GDI is a remobilization of world development cooperation and a reaffirmation of the people-oriented concept. We walk the talk. Two Nepal projects have been selected under the GDI. Recently, our cooperation on border points, infrastructure, health and other various fields have achieved positive progress. As China is striding forward on the road of Chinese path to modernization. We welcome Nepal to board the express train of China’s development, share our development opportunities and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Finally, I wish “The Silk Road Charity and Brightness Action” a very success, wish our bilateral friendship could bring more benefits to Nepali people. Long live China Nepal friendship!Thanks.
