Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”,

Hon’ble Mr. Amanlal Modi, Minister of Federal Affairs & General Administration,

Distinguished guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning and Namaste.

It’s my great honor and pleasure to attend the handover ceremony of the Civil Service Hospital Upgrading Project and the 60th Anniversary of China’s Medical Aid to Foreign Countries. I also would like to express my sincere appreciation for the hard work of the Chinese and Nepali workers and the Chinese medical team. My special thanks to Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” for your continuously support to China-Nepal friendship and cooperation.

Each person’s right to basic health service should be equally guaranteed. Over the past decades, the Nepali government has made impressive progress in delivering health service to its people. As close neighbors linked by the same mountains and rivers, China and Nepal share profound traditional friendship and enjoy close cooperation in the field of public health. Originally constructed in 2008 with China’s grant assistance, the Civil Service Hospital has committed to providing high quality service to its patients, and played an important role in our joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. With the successful completion of the upgrading project, the Civil Service Hospital will better meet the Nepali people’s aspiration for good heath service.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the occasion when China sent its first medical aid team abroad. And in 1999, the Chinese government send the first medical team to Nepal. Based in B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital for 23 years, the team members have used their medical proficiency and ethics to benefit local people, and thus making greater contributions to the building of a global community of health for all through their concrete actions. Just now, Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” honored the team members with “the Medal of National Health Champions”. It’s a symbol of recognition and appreciation for your contributions to the Nepali people and China-Nepal friendship.

China now embarks on a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects, and Nepal is also on the path to graduate from the Least Developed Countries and achieve UN 2030 sustainable development goals. President Xi Jinping pointed out that people’s aspiration for a better life is our goal. We have every reason to expect as fellow travelers on the journey of development, our bilateral relations and practical cooperation will bring more concrete benefits to the two peoples. Every success starts with actions. We must firmly follow a people-centered development approach, make solid efforts on every piece of work concerning people’s livelihood including medical services, and always plan and carry out our work in light of what the people feel and act to meet people’s aspirations. Together we will take our friendship across the Himalayas to a new height.

     Thanks.
