On 15 June, 2012, H.E. Mr. Yang Houlan, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, was invited as the Guest of Honor to the graduation ceremony of Class 2012 of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme of Ullens School.

Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Chairperson of Ullens School and Mr. Medin Bahadur Lamichhane, Principal of the school said that China is the friendly neighbor of Nepal. The two countries have a long history and a solid base of friendship. Ullens School hopes to introduce more Chinese elements into the teaching, and already has two Chinese volunteer teachers. The school is considering taking Chinese Language learning into International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

Yang expressed his congratulation to the graduates in his address, and appreciated Ullens School for its putting importance to the exchanges and cooperation in Nepal-China cultural exchanges and teaching. Yang said that the cultural exchanges between China and Nepal can be traced back to ancient times. As China-Nepal Comprehensive Partnership of Cooperation continues to deepen, the Nepali side has put more and more importance to Chinese language teaching. I believe this kind of cooperation will further promote the understanding and cooperation between the two peoples. The young generation is nation's future, and also shoulders the responsibility of promoting China-Nepal friendship. I hope the youth of our two countries will make joint efforts to bring China-Nepal friendship from generation to generation.

Yang and the heads of the school co-distributed diplomas to the graduates.
