On November 15, 2011, the seminar on China-Nepal Cooperation in Health and Healing jointly organized by the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is inaugurated in Kathmandu. H.E. Mr. Yang Houlan, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, along with Dr. Arun Sayami, Dean of the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, and Mr. Xu Xiao, Vice President of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine attended and addressed at the opening ceremony.

In his inaugural address, Ambassador Yang stated that Traditional Chinese Medicine is deeply rooted in the age-old culture of the Chinese people. After being developed and accumulated for thousands of years, it has formed special systems for life science cognition and disease-healing and made great contributions to the development of world medical science. In recent years, Traditional Chinese Medicine has gone out of China rapidly and has established partnership with more than 40 countries. He believed the exchanges and cooperation between the two renowned medical institutions will start a new chapter for the bilateral cooperation between China and Nepal.

Dr. Arun Sayami and other addressers said that China is the good neighbor of Nepal. The two peoples have deep friendship. For many years, China has helped Nepal in medical and health sectors and other areas. The Nepalese people are really grateful for that. The Nepali side highly appreciates Traditional Chinese Medicines' contributions and value in the medical area, and China's achievements in integrated medicine. They believed that the seminar will make important contributions to the cooperation between Nepal and China in traditional medicines and the people's health care.
